We start with a meeting to learn about your brand, products, services, audiences, desires, needs, and pain points. Using this information we develop a scope of work defining project deliverables, cost estimates, and a recommended timeline. After your review, refinement, and approval of the scope, we do a deep dive into your brand. Depending on how developed your brand is, we may perform a SWOT analysis, develop a creative strategy framework, or write a positioning statement.1
We perform a content audit. We then collaborate with your team to determine what content is necessary, what already exists, what can be deleted, and what needs to be created. This is also where we begin tackling Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing if part of the scope of work.2
We create a skeletal framework representing how users will navigate through the website, in other words, experience it. We “find homes” for all content and determine features, functionalities, and elements (images, graphics, icons, links, call-to-actions, etc.), that are needed for the user to have an easy, enjoyable, and effective journey. First round of testing begins using prototypes.3
This is also known as the website design phase. We determine relevant and engaging micro-interactions, highlight important information, and use subtle psychological design techniques that encourage your desired user interactions (i.e. click on a button to learn more or add an item to the cart then checkout).4
Equipped with proven solutions and industry best practices, we build a mobile-friendly, fast, and secure website using final content and the best framework or application for the job (for example, headless CMS, Ruby on Rails, or WordPress). This initial website will live on a production webserver and only available to those with the proper credentials, ensuring the general public will not stumble upon it before it’s finalized and approved by you and your team.5
Working with your team and people not involved until now, every facet of the new website is tested to ensure an optimal user experience including features, functionality, desired user interactions, speed, and security. Content management training takes place if you would like to manage content.6
